2011/12 Nonviolence course schedule and booking information Huddersfield, West Yorkshire

Once again we are running our popular year-long course Nonviolence for a Change. This year it is hosted by Huddersfield Quakers and supported by various local peace and social justice groups. The course runs from September 2011 to June 2012, meeting one Saturday a month, with the exception of two residential weekend sessions that intend to deepen people's understanding of the content and build a strong group.

As in previous years, you can sign up for the whole course, or just dip into the sessions that interest you. Our courses tend to be oversubscribed and we anticipate a similar response for the 2011-2012 course. So get in touch as soon as you can if you'd like to participate either in the whole course or particular workshops.

Year-group participants

By joining the year-group you have the opportunity to learn new skills and deepen your understanding and knowledge of social change, as well as develop your facilitation skills. You have use of an on-line forum, the TTT resource library, recommended action-learning assignments, facilitation practice and organising activities as well as the support of a learning-communtity.Year-group participants commit to coming to all 10 meetings, which include two residential weekends.

The course is most suited for people who have experience or working for change with other people and it focuses on maximising the effectiveness of activists. We strongly believe in the wisdom of the group and greatly value learning from each other. For this reason we aim to have a wide range of experiences in the group, from new-comer to more experienced activists. This is why we ask people interested in the year-long course to complete an application form. Social change happens by connecting people, ideas and action, and your amount of activist experience is not as important as your skill and potential as a multiplier -- someone who goes out and connects yet more people, ideas and actions.
